For example, Besix Van den Berg from Belgium came to us for a new custom electric mud and mix unit upon the advice of Heijmans. Besix Van den Berg is a “pioneer in the European market” when it comes to horizontal drilling. This specific drilling technique gives the opportunity to cross obstacles underground while being spared major disruption and repair damage. To carry out these drillings, a mud and mix unit is needed, among others.
BFM 2000 EK
Bofram Techniek has made the BFM 2000 EK for Besix Van den Berg. This is an electric mud and mixing unit with a truck-mounted crane for trenchless drilling. This unit with a robust steel frame is built on a hook lift hoist. The mixing unit is equipped with a crane that can be operated by a remote control. This crane can lift the bigbag bentonite above the hopper table. Furthermore, the butterfly valves on the machine are easy to operate and the hopper table and associated activities are easy to access. There is also a level measurement installed that is clearly visible for everyone. This mixing installation is fully electrically driven and has a special impeller with adapted piping and venturi. This way, a large capacity is realized so the mud masters can mix quickly.

Ergonomic mud and mixing unit
This HDD unit is designed to support the ergonomics of the mud master. For example, the hopper table is easily accessible via the stairs with everything within reach. The mud master can operate the valve from his position with a button, he or she can easily access the water filter, and the bentonite can be controlled from there. The addition of the crane ensures that the bentonite does not have to be manually poured into the hopper. The crane can hold the bigbag above the hopper table. This saves a lot of lifting.
